Chlorite

The chlorite mineral group consists of several minerals with similar crystal structures and the same basic chemical composition, but each with a different metallic ion (Fe, Mg, Mn...) substituting dominantly in their chemical makeup.

Seraphinite is the popular name for the mineral clinochlore, which is the magnesian end member of the chlorite clay mineral group. Chamosite is the iron-rich end member of the chlorite mineral group. The chlorite minerals are similar in habit to the micas, and both belong to a category of sheet silicate minerals known as phyllosilicates, however chlorite sheets are inelastic while mica sheets show high elasticity. The difference is due to an additional hydroxide layer in the sheet structure of the chlorite minerals. Quartz Crystal Occurance

Natural quartz crystals typically form in open cavities inside the earth in quartz veins and granitic pegmatites, usually as colorless rock crystals, although sometimes occurring as smoky quartz crystals, citrine crystals, or as amethyst crystals depending on the presence of trace impurities of the elements iron and aluminum within the quartz crystal, and on the oxidation states of these trace impurities. Secondary quartz crystals typically form on cryptocrystalline quartz in cavities and vugs.
