The tanzanite is not of gem quality however it does have a nice blue color, and it looks very nice in combination with other accessory minerals. This specimen was mined near Merelani Tanzania.

It is transparent, and its prismatic faces and the terminations have vitreous luster and are mostly in good condition with some abrasions on the sides where it grew up against other crystals that left some surface impressions. This natural color tanzanite crystal is dichroic with blue violet color looking through its widest portion, and a slightly redish purple color when viewed through its narow side. The photo at left was taken under a mixture of flourescent and incandescent light.

It is semi-transparent at its base and transparent throuout to its tip. The prismatic faces and the terminations are in perfect condition with vitreous luster. This un-heated natural tanzanite crystal has a unique medium green color with a hint of yellow. It does show trichroism with the dichroscope with a strong yellow and a week pinkish tone. It Has a small clean area near its tip.

It is nearly transparent throuout to its tip. The prismatic faces and the terminations are in very good condition with vitreous luster,disturbed only whear it grew against another crystal. This un-heated natural tanzanite crystal has a unique medium yellowish green color. It does show trichroism with the dichroscope with a strong yellow and a week pinkish tone as well as the green. It Has a small very clean area near its termination.

It is transparent throughout with nearly all being gem-grade. Its prismatic faces and the terminations have vitreous luster, are in very good condition, and the crystal is doubly terminated. This natural color tanzanite crystal has weak dichroism with a very light greenish blue gray color in one direction and a light pinkish gray when viewed from the front as shown in the photo at left which was taken under a mixture of incandescent and flourescent light. The morphology of this crystal is very nice.(A rare colectors item)

	Code#: tanm141 Weight: 31.28 carats Size: 40mm x 15mm x 7.7mm Location: Mined in Afghanistan Price: $368.00 This natural color (Zoisite) crystal was stated by our supplier to have been mined in the Nangarhar Provence of Afghanistan. It actually is two crystals that are inter-grown and they are also doubly terminated. They grade from semi transparent at the base to completely transparent gem-grade at their teminations. Its prismatic faces and the terminations have vitreous luster, are in very good condition. This natural color tanzanite crystal has weak dichroism with a very light greenish blue gray color in one direction and a light pinkish gray when viewed from the front as shown in the photo at left which was taken under a mixture of incandescent and flourescent light.(see a back-view photo). The morphology of this crystal is very nice.(A rare colectors item)
