The crystals are generally in very good condition, a few show some damage. Several of the amethyst crystals have facet grade transparency with rich deep violet-purple color at their tips. This adds significantly to the value of this specimen since flawless gems could be faceted from these transparent crystal tips.

Location: Maraba, Brazil Price: $59.88 This large crystal of amethyst lapidary rough was mined in Maraba, Brazil and has colors of light to dark purple with some noticeable color zoning. The upper portion of this crystal shows bluish color overtones in flourescent lighting and reddish color overtones in incandescent lighting. The lower portion of this crystal grades from transparent purple down to milky white quartz at the base.Also there is still some milky white quartz attatched to the sides. Although this rough contains some noticeable veils and small inclusions it should cut one (1)or more nice gem stones, or a nice carving or cabs. The large clean areas require some orientation for the best results.

Its color is a light to medium purple with some near colorless areas. This amethyst crystal also has a smoky quartz phantom. The transparency is very good in approximatelly 85-90% of this crystal with light planes and veils separating flawless areas. This crystal is a great collector item, although it would also make a beautiful carving.

Several of the amethyst crystals have facet grade transparency at their tips. This adds to the worth of this specimen, since valuable gems could be faceted from the transparent crystal tips.
